Hope, U.S.A. Today

     Many years ago I was driving through the Adirondacks in New York, when all of a sudden a sign suddenly appeared announcing I was "Entering the Village of Hope." I thought, "Wow, there is another village named Hope."

     Fast forward fifty years and I was driving through Maine when all of a sudden there was a road sign announcing, if I were to turn here it would lead me to Hope Village. My thought was, "I cannot believe there are three Hopes in this country."

     Years later I had completed publishing my 30th book and was kind of in limbo. Do I want to research and write another one? What could I write about? I decided to check out how many Hopes there are listed on the web in the United States. To my surprise there were 29 in 26 states. Three states had two each.

     I could do a road trip like I did for my Route 66 Today book and visit each Hope, take pictures and talk to people about their Hope. But first I decided to write an introductory letter to introduce myself. I sent the letters to all the Post Masters asking for their assistance with my project. Within a few days I received emails and phone calls from people who would like to help me.

     The book you hold in your hands today is the end result. Enjoy.
